Realize: There's nothing we can do about this!!!!
Actually, we could do some things to deal with this. It would be useful to have a wiki page or mechanism for users to collaborate to share information about all entities who are hostile toward spamgourmet.
One table could show something like:
- Code: Select all
email service provider | how they treat SG forwards
--|--
elude.in | blackholes messages silently
mindspring.com | directs all mail to a spam folder
optonline.net | refuses connections from SG server
speakeasy.net | allows server connection but bounces messages
(that's not meant to be accurate.. just an example).
There could also be an automated public log where the SG server reports refused connections with a timestamp and domain.
Sometimes I cannot send email that uses an SG address in the
FROM: field because the recipients mail server requires that the domain of the email address match that of the mail server and either refuses connection or delivers the message to a spam folder. It would also be useful to document these providers somewhere.
Sometimes I cannot register a new account on a website because the registration form rejects SG addresses. It may even be interesting to capture these sites in a list as well.
