How To prevent change of msg count for subscribed MailLists?

Postby OpenMacNews » Fri Nov 21, 2003 8:12 pm

hi all,

i've successfully setup my spamgourmet, and subscribed to a mailing list with that address

for the sake of discussion here, the mailing list is:
"test_users@test.com"

and my spamgourmet disposable address with which i subscribed to the list is:

"test_users.20.openmacnews@spamcannon.net

further, i've set "test_users@test.com" as a TrustedSender.

but now i'm a bit confused :?

here's the problem ...

i *DO* receive messages from the list, but they are sent TO the list address (test_users@test.com), on which, of course, my spamgourmet address resides.

as a result, the TrustedSender does not "kick in", and "OK" messages from the list EACH decrement the disposable address counter ...

here's an example of the message headers for a message received FROM the mailing list:

From:
+test_users+openmacnews+2f49e8c081.bob# ... cannon.net
To: test_users@Test.com
Subject: [test_users] Re: blurg (test_users: message 4 of 20)
Date-Sent: Friday, November 21, 2003 11:03 AM

QUESTION:

what do I set in my spamgourmet profile/setup to allow messages sent TO this mailing list as OK (i.e., non decrementing of my spamgourmet message count)?

thanks!

richard

From the Frequently Asked Questions list:
Q. Is there a way to give an address that allows the initial sender to send an unlimited number of messages, but eats mail from anyone else ('exclusive sender')?

You should add the list address as an exclusive sender (for the disposable address) instead of trusted sender.
