Spammers can email to various usernames, such as those easily-guessed like Fred, any word in a dictionary, and short names of 4 characters or so. Spammers use scripts/programs to try and mail to all of these. Best to use some username like Ah6u*3h7d?œ??34 , but not everyone would be happy with one like that.

I was just surprised, that a spammer already makes the effort for spamming spamgourmet-accounts. I thought that spamgourmet is not so big so it's not an attractive target for spamming. But obviosly, thats not true

I had a couple of spams come on new addresses that I could not remember creating. I turned watchwords on for a week and they seemed to stop coming.
