Got my first spamgourmet spam!

Postby drewmills » Tue May 24, 2005 2:17 am

Someone actually guessed my name as a spamgourmet possibility and got it right. They sent it to usenet.20.....

So I guess it's time to whip out the prefix word. Never though I'd have to use it, though.

Just in case, look carefully at your other 'words' for something similar. At one point, I also thought someone had begun fabricating my disposables; it turned out to be a spammer [or robot] that made a spelling error with an existing disposable by truncating it to form a new disposable word. Looked so weird that it took me some time to recognize it.

Same here. But my username is easy so I'm not surprised they got it. I am surprised to see they're going after SG users. Most of us are savvy enough to recognize their crap on sight. Surely there are easier targets.

It's like the telephone solicitors (telemarketers in the US) who try to contact people who ask NOT to be called. Why waste effort on people who won't go for your pitch?? I don't get these people.
