Can you delete addresses?

Is there anyway you can actually delete addresses, instead of just amending the remaining messages to zero?

Hide it if you don't want to see it anymore. Unless you go and kill every spammer who has that address, I don't see how you could "delete" an address.

Having used SG a long time I have a lot of dead/expired addresses I'd love to delete. I do hide the address of the most obnoxious spammers. However, I also have probably 100 or more one time use addresses. Maybe I ordered/registered something and requested no promotional junk emails they sent me a confirmation or 2 and then I never heard from them again. Also no spam ever arrived from them. Many times the list say 2 sent 18 more for ages. They could send 18 more. They haven't.

To my way of thinking if I deleted the address and a spammer got a hold of it. I'd get 20 instead of 18 spams or whatever the number I had set. Even with the current ones when this happens I just log in and set the count to 0.

The only spammer who gets around this in one who changes the unique part of the address and I get 20 at a shot from him since he obvious knows how SG works. Got to admire the effort it takes since he must do this manually I assume. Kind of like Martha stealing cooking supplies from the prison kitchen. I thought about the pass code thing but since I have so many active addresses and this person apparently has access to a valid SG address for me that doesn't seem to help. Besides I just go in and set his new address to 0. Apparently he tries to send all 20 before creating another new address so I get time off for good behavior.

I really would like to delete the inactive never spammed addresses.

If you send a message to 'info' with a description of what you want deleted (eg all messages for my account that have 'test' in the name or all that were created before such and such date that have 0 messages eaten, etc.), I can delete them for you. We're convinced that it's less work for us to do this manually every once in a while than it would be to add the counter-intuitive option to the website.

Hmm... Maybe addresses could be deleted if they are inactive. But it isn't so easy to tell which one are inactive.

Maybe there could be delete button? Then user could delete those addresses. And if prefix and or watchword aren't met spammers are unable to create new addresses.

But it's impossible to delete addresses without users permission. Because there might be some addresses that are used less than once per year, but it doesn't mean that those addresses would't be "active".

Like I have some simple addresses that I have created while I have had watchword feature turned off. After creating those addresses I have turned it back on... Those addresses are very important to me, but aren't used on regular basis..

Hi Josh,

I have 3 entries for "pro" (pro.to.rlorenzen AT spamgourmetDOTcom). One is the actual one which "counts down" when an email gets sent through. The other two remain in the list doing nothing. All have the same creation date/time stamp of 2005-11-29 05:54.

I would like to delete those other 2 entries.

I vote a delete button be added to the address page. That way we can keep our list clean and not have to worry the admin. Seems it should be the user's responsibility to do their own disposable e-mail address maintenance, and help keep the "system" clean.
Please, Please, Please?? (I have read all the posts and still would love to have the ability to delete un-needed addresses without bothering the admin. If someone goofs up, they can always re-create it.)

It's speculation, but I really think that there's much less work for the admins *without* the delete button, and with the occasional cleanups that users ask for (did the one above, btw).

I clean up addresses for a user once every couple of months, and it takes a couple minutes, at most. My fear is that, because of the counter-intuitive nature of sg's disposable addresses, adding a delete button will invite a whole bunch of inquiries from users who get unexpected results when they delete an address (which promptly gets recreated when a message arrives). There are over 100k users now, and that's enough to contain a group large enough to overwhelm our support infrastructure [which is a) this board, and b) me and my treo 600, with occasional help from the team], so I get skiddish when my intuition warns me about a change...

Impossible. If they've never been used, then there won't be a record to remove.

That might be useful. Another approach is to periodically abandon/delete your account, and start a new account.
