[Request] Brief/Silent option

Postby JohnC » Mon Aug 16, 2004 2:54 pm

First - Thanks for the great service!

Could we get an option to shorten or remove extra info in the emails? Since I already know that it is coming from SG, I would rather not see the extra information about how many messages are left, or whether this is a trusted sender etc. All I really need to know is that spam gourmetforwarded it to me.

Several other posters have asked for an option removing the added info field in the subject. Josh, I guess that it's time to turn the options into a binary field...

we still have a few more prime numbers before we run out of space :)

I guess it would be niced to have a spec before we change anything. It would be fairly simple to add a feature that turns off the subject tagline altogether. Beyond that, what are we looking at -- X- headers? Some smaller tagline?

OK so here are the options in more detail -

Verbose
-Message subject modified as is today (word: message x of Y)
-Messages from trusted senders are listed in subject headers (trusted sender for your account)
-Messages from exclusive senders are listed in header

Brief
-X Header contains word:Message X of Y
-X Header contains trusted sender info
-X Header contains exclusive sender info

Silent
-No Message X of Y
-No Trusted Sender info sent
-No exclusive sender info sent

I think a X-Header doesn't hurt (but a scrambled Subject does), so I don't see the need for the "Silent" option. In addition, X-Header could be activated in either option, so the choice could be
* Modify Subject and add X-Header
* Only use X-Header

Just my 2 cents...
