Terms of service mistake?

Postby Frac » Tue Jun 29, 2004 9:17 pm

I was just reading the terms of service (do I win something for being the first?).

I noticed this paragraph:

2. Special Admonitions for international use. Recognizing the global nature of the Internet, you agree to comply with all local rules regarding online conduct and acceptable Content. Specifically, you agree to comply with all applicable laws regarding the transmission of technical data exported from the United States or the country in which you reside.

Should that be more specific? To my eyes, it doesn't specify what set of laws is to be considered "local" under international use.

Shouldn't it read something like:

...agree to comply with all rules and laws, both local and those of the United States or, where conflicts exist, whichever is more restrictive...

I'm no lawyer, but that part just stuck out. Now back to your regularly scheduled program...

good point -- I honestly didn't put much though into that one. I'll look at revising it.
