Help with spam

Postby Casperton » Fri Mar 12, 2004 10:10 am

Hi all,
this is not SG related but it is spam related, I need your precious hints and help.

I have my own domain, where I have my forwarding address ;-)

Some weeks ago (mostly around MyDoom start) I started to receive bounces from sites informing me that the user which I had sent mail was (unknown|unexistent|..). I recieved the bounces,
as the messages had a from or a return path to a ramdomly created user address in my domain. Those bounces are either
to postmaster, either to the "original" sender, either both. And
I have configured the mail system to forward all email sent to undefined boxes to postmaster ...

Initially, I thought that this was an effect of the virus/worm.

Currently, I continue receiving such messages with a relative frequency, and I have, by now, discarded the possibility of those
to be a new kind of spam (most only contain the information
form the bouncing site regarding the bounce).

So, it seems that somebody decided to put my domain in their
from/reply-to spamming bombing. I am affraid my domain could get black-listed ...

Can I do something?

How could I check if my domain has been somehow black-listed?

Any link to some interesting place?

Sorry for the side-topic, and thanks,

CTone

Caspertone,

That's called a Joe-job. Nothing much you can do. Nobody in his right mind would blaklist a domain just because it's in a "from".
