New email service-no phone needed??

Can anyone post the name and/or URL of some email service these days that
1] Does not require one's telephone number,
2] Is free and
3] does not have useless adds at the bottom of one's email message?

Hotmail, Yahoo and many others all seem to want to bother people's privacy something fierce these days.

Thank you for any ideas.

No, I don't think so. 10 bucks/year for the smallest package I believe. Great service though. Plays well with spamgourmet.

I did quite a bit of looking around a few months ago, and the only one I could find was Zoho.com. So far I've really liked it; it doesn't put ads on the bottom of my outgoing or incoming messages, it works in my IMAP- or pop3-based email clients, and the web interface doesn't drag along like a drugged elephant on my old laptop like Gmail/Yahoo/etc. do.

I can't recall whether they asked for a phone number, but I'm fairly certain they didn't. (When a site does demand one, I use a Google Voice number from an ancient account I only use for that purpose, though I'm hoping to find a more anonymous free phone number service at some point.)

Zoho looked good until it was learned that a new registrant must needs supply a pre-existing email address. Oh well.

Next?

You might want to post this question over at the Email Discussions Forum - http://www.emaildiscussions.com

I'll say though, it will be hard to find a free email service that does not put ads into email one sends and/or receives.
