I was under the impression that if I hide an address, all email to that address gets deleted.

I noticed that one of my addresses that had 13 available messages and was hidden - had a spam email delivered and the count on sg.com was decremented - like it was a regular address.

Am I missing something?

Hiding an address just prevents it from being shown in the list of addresses when you search. It does not affect how that address works. If you want an address to halt all emails to a given SG address, set the counter to zero and remove any exclusive senders you may have on that address.
