Adding a space between " and < in From Field

Postby vivacia » Wed Dec 07, 2005 4:29 am

Hi,

The problem I'm currently having is that when I reply to e-mails that have been sent to my spamgourmet address, the From address look something like this:

"theiraddress@test.com"<+alias+myusername+###.theiraddress#test.com@spamgourmet.com>

The problem is with the "< stuck together, my mail client, Opera, adds an extra backslash to quote the " character I think.

As a result, when I hit reply, the To address looks something like this:

\"theiraddress@test.com\"<+alias+myusername+###.theiraddress#test.com@spamgourmet.com>

Is it possible for a space to be added between the " and the < ? So, the result would be something like this:

\"theiraddress@test.com\" <+alias+myusername+###.theiraddress#test.com@spamgourmet.com>

Thank you for your time!

Are you sure the space would make a difference? Could opera just be escaping quotes no matter what?

I'm sure a space would make a difference because when I take one my random spamgourmet addresses and add a space in between the " and <, it won't quote it.

I have taken screen captures of my examples:

1) Reply to a normal e-mail - note the " are quoted to \" : link 1

2) I created a draft e-mail that put the spamgourmet e-mail address in the To header. There is a space between the " and < : link 2

3) I clicked reply-all (so the to-header would be included in the reply as well) and the " is not quoted. : link 3

In addition, thank you for such a wonderful service! It's been very useful when I've had to give out my e-mail address for inclusion on a webpgae.
