double messages....

starting yesterday, (5/11) whenever I get an e-mail filtered
through SG I get two copies. Most of the time they come at the
same time but had one message that came in yesterday solo and
the copy showed up today.
Even though I am getting double messages, the message counter
on my various temporary addresses only counts and reduces itself
by 1 message.
I am checking things with my ISP, but thought I'd pass this along
in case you'd like to check things there as well.
Thanks.

We are interested. Please send me (as a private message) three pieces of info:
1. The forwarding address for that spamgourmet account
2. First message (you can delete the body if you want, but I need all the headers)
3. Duplicate message (same thing, I want the complete headers).

Yeah, please do -- we rolled out some new code recently, and it originally contained the risk of duplicate messages, which we worked pretty hard to prevent. The duplicates that we were seeing *did* affect the count in all cases, though.
RE-Doubled Messages

Thanks, folks. I think I found the problem. I had 2 SG accounts
which both fed into the same Private e-mail address. For some
reason the stuff going through one SG account was bouncing
through the other SG account and I was ending up with two
messages written to the same temporary address but each from
a different SG account, eventhough the temporary addy in question
was only listed in 1 of the SG accounts.
(Clear as mud? Good!).
SO, I changed the private e-mail address on one of the SG
accounts, (the one with the offending temporary address), and
Hey_Presto! No more doubled messages! (For now anyway).
If it starts happening again, I'll fire off a PM with all data. If you
wish, I can PM and tell you which accounts were having problems
so you can look into it further, but am not sure if I have duplicates
for header info since my e-mail program has a housekeeping
routine that dumps trash at regular intervals.
anyway....
Thanks again.

I've been getting double messages on some of my new alias addresses. They arrive at the same time, and appear to be identical, except the second one has a duplication of the SG header on the subject line.
For example, the first email subject line has this added to the end: (xyzzy.com: trusted sender for your account)
The second email subject line has this added to the end: (xyzzy.com: trusted sender for your account) (xyzzy.com: trusted sender for your account)
The problem seems to be affecting 3 or 4 new addresses, but not on every email I receive from them. Each new address is being used by a different company or individual, so there isn't anything common about the senders.
Some are not from trusted senders, but I haven't tracked to see if the available emails counter changes based on 1 email or 2.
Any suggestions?

You need to try to provide a case that replicates the problem every time (a specific sender and addressee combo for example).
Once you have a sure-fire replication method, send Josh or me a private message with the following elements:
1. the sg aliases involved
2. any 3rd-party message routing outside of sg (for example, your protected address might actually forward to some other mailbox)
3. a copy of the incriminated duplicate message.
Welcome to the wonderful world of distributed systems troubleshooting!

Hi,
sorry, I analyzed the mail headers and found out that I was registered to a newsletter with 2 spamgourmet adresses.
Thanks and regards
