sg is sending junk instead of messages

Postby crazycomputers » Fri Apr 08, 2005 2:56 am

I am currently downloading 49 messages from my hidden address -- most of which are from "jqh1@gourmet.spamgourmet.com" and contain either nothing, or a lot of ASCII junk. I have not noticed any binary data, although Thunderbird may be preventing it from displaying.

I suspect that most of these were legitimate messages, but were since trashed by the sg machine. Can you please look into this?

Sorry, I deleted them already. *Slaps forehead*

The problem seems to have fixed itself. If it happens again I will forward a few of them.

it's not sg that's sending junk....

EDIT by SysKoll: @ replaced by other chars. Don't feed the address collection spambots.

This sg user is sending junk: gourmet(a)spamgourmet.com.
I got this from abel.flood( a)gourmet.spamgourmet.com. It's XML, but it's still junk:

Well, this is a piece of spam sent on behalf of an "owt4nowt.com" auction site (shame on them). This "garbage" is actually an MS Word document exported to IE 4-compatible HTML (or what passes for HTML in Redmond).

So you received an HTML spam with a forged "from" field making it look like it comes for a spamgourmet user. Big deal. Not the fault of sg.

As for gourmet, it's the generic user that sends email to the hidden addresses of sg users.

Subject: look... (sylvan: message 18 of 20)

Conclusion: sg is doing its job and relaying email sent to one of your disposables. Just let your "sylvan" address reach its max count and the spam sent to it will be blocked.

Also, I noticed this:

X-GMX-Antispam: 1 (Sender is in blacklist: jqh1@gourmet.spamgourmet.com)

It seems that you (or another GMX user) reported this email as spam to the GMX filter, which cluelessly took the actual, honest, return email address from sg and blacklisted it.

I am afraid it means that some mail forwarded to hidden addresses on gmx.net will be marked as spam.

Reporting like this should be a violation of the newly amended terms of service. Any erroneous reporting of spamgourmet to blacklisting services should be grounds for termination.
