(Not Really My) Exclusive Sender

Postby Guest » Thu Mar 24, 2005 9:54 am

Hello all,

1) I set up an SG address
zzz (dot) com (dot) my_username (at) SGdomain, and also set the exclusive sender of this address to "EXample.com" (without the quotes).

2) I used this email address only to sign up EXample.com's service.

3) In the few weeks following the sign-up, there was only one email (confirmation from EXample.com). So far so good.

4) Yesterday, I received an email at this address. The subject still contains the string "(EXample: addressed to exclusive sender for this address)". But the "From" field is not from EXample.com, but is total unfamiliar to me. Indeed, when I opened the email, it was a spam.

What I do not understand is why the spammer is considered to be the exclusive sender because the exclusive sender's domain did not appear anywhere in the header. If anyone could offer some insight on this issue, thank you very much in advance.

Here is a copy of the header from the email:

If you PM specifics, or send them to info, we can look into it. I'm curious -- example.com isn't a real domain - it's explicitly reserved for using in examples.
