SG very slow to forward emails

Postby drive » Mon Apr 03, 2023 12:34 pm

Hi,

I've been using SG for a long time and really like it, thanks for making it available!

In the last few weeks, I've had issues receiving SG emails though. In particular, emails arrive in my inbox several hours after they've been sent.

I could see in the headers that forwarding between gourmet7 and gourmet8 took 2h30 minutes last Friday.

My email provider has been very helpful and there is no blocking or greylisting for SG on their side, the delay seems to be within SG.

Any idea what might be causing it? It's problematic for those services that send the 2FA OTP or a magic link via email because by the time I get it, it has expired.

Hi drive,

yes, this issue is very annoying.
Feb 2nd, 2023, I already reported it here but as you can read there it was wiped off the table.
Nothing happened, I still see such delays. For example yesterday it was up to 19:10h (!!!).
At least there seems to be no completely loss of eMails anymore, even if I am not completely sure about this. Observing the counter on an SG address for forwarded eMails and comparing it to the incoming eMails on the hidden account is hardly feasible with such delays.

Maybe after the issue there seems to be solved your report now will help to create awareness of the error after all.

But for this some information more might be necessary:

Who is your "helpful provider"?
Can you provide some headers?

Best regards
Hilde

Hey,

I assume that the old issue mentioned by hilde4705 is not solved yet:

gourmet7 gets the email at 085705, gourmet8 gets it at 120916, over 3h later.

Hi drive,

even better: an example from yesterday. I took 4 days 18 minutes between gourmet7 and mx-ha.gmx.net logged their receiving of the eMail:

Code: Select all
Received: from gourmet8.spamgourmet.com ([216.75.62.102])
by mx-ha.gmx.net (mxgmx117 [212.227.17.5])
with ESMTPS (Nemesis) id ...

for ...@dfgh.net;
Wed, 05 Apr 2023 18:52:04 +0000

I'm not shure if that means that gourmet7 started transmission that delayed or mx-ha.gmx.net accepted it that late.

But in both cases:

What happened between?

Yes. There is still a substantial delay between gourmet7 and gourmet8:

Code: Select all
Received: from gourmet8.spamgourmet.com (gourmet.spamgourmet.com [216.75.62.102])
   (using TLSv1.3 with cipher TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (256/256 bits)
    key-exchange ECDHE (P-256) server-signature RSA-PSS (2048 bits) server-digest SHA256)
   (No client certificate requested)
by aspmx1.migadu.com (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 5CD9D64B06
   for <[redacted]>; Tue, 25 Jul 2023 12:43:46 +0200 (CEST)

<omitted some ARC headers>

Received: from spamgourmet by gourmet7.spamgourmet.com with local (Exim 4.94.2)
   (envelope-from <[redacted]>)
   id 1qOEKy-0006sL-Hp
   for [redacted]; Tue, 25 Jul 2023 09:28:12 +0000

I can confirm I am currently having the trouble as well.

It is a real trouble when receiving emails with code valid only 15 minutes...

I do not know if I can help solving this, but if so, I would like to contribute.
