Confirmation email not received on custom domain

I have a custom domain that I'm trying to set as my protected address, but the confirmation email is never received. I'm using the domain for other email without issue.
If I set my protected address to my email service default domain (purelymail.com) the confirmation email is received.
I've raised an issue with purelymail support and they confirmed that the confirmation email to my custom domain was never received on their end.

This is very weird. Any help with what is going wrong is appreciated.
