Mail Bounce: Unexpected EOF error.

Postby Lancer » Fri Sep 14, 2012 12:10 pm

I've been blowing sparks at a certain social network I've subscribed to because they say the spamgourmet address I've signed up with has been bouncing their emails. Basically, if their email bounces, then they assume I'm breaking their policy of having a usable email and therefore they will wipe my membership even though I have been a loyal paying customer of theirs for a number of years.

...very annoyed at their stance on this, but my mood doesn't make a difference to solving what's going on. Perhaps you can shed some light?

When I asked for specifics, they sent me the following error report (which I understand they are trying to claim that spamgourmet is sending back to them):

Code: Select all
----------------------------------------------------
attached failed reply when sending to your email
----------------------------------------------------
This message was created automatically by mail delivery software.

A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its
recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed:

  xxxxx.xx.xxxxx@neverbox.com

The following text was generated during the delivery attempt:

------ xxxxx.xx.xxxxx@neverbox.com ------

Exim is a Mail Transfer Agent. It is normally called by Mail User Agents,
not directly from a shell command line. Options and/or arguments control
what it does when called. For a list of options, see the Exim documentation.
sh: -c: line 1: unexpected EOF while looking for matching `"'
sh: -c: line 2: syntax error: unexpected end of file

----------------------------------------------------

Is there something spamgourmet is using which might return this kind of error when people try to send email to my xxxxx.xx.xxxxx@neverbox.com account?

It is ironic that they actually managed to use the "invalid" spamgourmet address to reply to me about the problem. I'll probably point this out to them, but I thought I should first post the error they claim here for those-more-wise to please look into.

Could this bounce / error message be a fault of spamgourmet?
