Trouble responding to gmail accounts using spamgourmet reply

1. someone sends an email to me via a spamgourmet email address
2. I receive it in gmail, hit reply
3. after sending, get the following error back:
Is gmail rejecting the address as invalid? The recipient domain is spamgourmet.com, but why would spamgourmet reject it? Any thoughts? A search for similar problems in the forums didn't give any hints.
