Some email lost; others OK

Postby user7 » Thu Jan 24, 2008 7:54 pm

Hi Guys!

A daily newsletter I get to xoxy.net is only getting thru erratically again. Another non-daily newsletter to xoxy.net gets thru fine, including one today.

Known weekdays with missing newsletters:
1-15
1-18
1-22
1-23

I may have reported this problem last year (542 emails have been forwarded to this address).

Anyone else having this problem?

... and it's so slowly

Postby Karl-Egon » Fri Jan 25, 2008 6:34 pm

Hallo,

it seems, that I lost mails too, but I have no evidences. Only the statements of some senders.

One particularly often: from a yahoo.de account. This address is in the list of trusted senders AND the used SG address is not closed.
If he retries, often both mails are coming back-to-back.
And if it comes directly, it uses hours for it's way, sometimes ...

Btw: since the last three days, SG is very very slowly (ca. 50% of my SG page views are going in the timeout).
Do they have server problems?

Regards,

Karl-Egon

I just received a message (through xoxy.net) about 36 hours after it was sent.

I also had a friend sent a test message from her gmail.com address to an xoxy.net address of mine. It never arrived.

In addition, I've received several paper letters from my bank, informing me that their e-mails to my account (which was a spamgourmet.com address) were bounced or undeliverable.

Actually, that test message I mentioned in my last post here did finally arrive -- about 30 hours after it was sent.

Does somebody have any questions?

We should recognize: SG is a service at no charge and without the inconvenience of many advertisements.
If they have trouble, it could help to donate instead of being fussy.

Update: Received the daily newsletter emails on 1-24 and 1-25. Those others are still missing.

Note that DELAYS and MISSING could be different problems. I've had both problems previously. (Check my other posts.)

SG is a fabulous service! Josh & co have been very helpful in resolving problems in the past. Just remember that SG recommends you not use this for critical email. I have to agree with that.

Tip: Log your count of emails sent in Advanced Mode -> Search Addresses. If SG Sends more than you get, you may have a local ISP or spam trap problem of your own.

Perhaps!
A missing is so long missing, since it arrives. Then it is delayed ... *g*
Like the Vienna mail. I primarily did not longer expect that mail as a few hours.

Yes, but I use to bank on it, the more it works well.
And for my security concept it is necessary, to use disposable addresses, because I have no influence, what with my address will be done on the recipient's side.
And finally, I've never heard from a better service in disposable addresses.

Tip: Log your count of emails sent in Advanced Mode -> Search Addresses. If SG Sends more than you get, you may have a local ISP or spam trap problem of your own.

I did so ...
Just about the Vienna mail, I noticed, that the counter veered from "121" to "122" and I thought, the mail whould arrive in the next minutes ... okay hours ... okay tomorrow in the morning ... ? nevermore??
And at another morning: here it is: TARAA!!

Folks,

We have the usual DDoS attack (compounded by an error from one of our users, who mistakenly used a disposable as an SMTP test target), and on top of that, we had an erratic router in our ISP. Things have gotten better after these problems were resolved.

See news.

Thanks for that info and for your duty.
It is very fine now.

But for all that, I used this to create a PayPal account ... *g*
