Spamgourmet.com certificate is close to expiration date

Postby akinet » Sun Jun 04, 2023 11:20 am

Hi.

Expiration date for spamgourmet.com is: Tue, 06 Jun 2023 23:59:59 GMT
To avoid any problem accessing spamgourmet.com website, it should be renewed. And that probably affects mailing as well.

There were major issues with domains expirations in late 2022, but as for certificates I guess everyone assumed there's no reason to use commercial certificates anymore and free ones are renewed automatically.

First of all, you don't need to be rude.
Secondly, you should read carefully the subject of this post. I am not talking about domain expiration date. I am talking about certificate expiration date used by this domain.

Here you can see expiration date of the SSL **certificate**

After expiration when you access this website, your browser will show you a warning that this domain is using an expired certificate and you can access it at your own risk. I don´t know if the same certificate is used for mailing. In that case it is likely that another server will refuse to talk to a server with an expired certificate.

I was trying to avoid any spamgourmet outage.

Apologizing if it sounded rude, that was not the intent.
It's much better now with a screenshot and details.

I wonder if they consider moving to a free certificate and thus have it auto renewed.

Solved! I've had Josiah contacted about and I see he just bought another year, not sure why commercial and not free though:
https://app.trackssl.com/users/sign_up? ... ourmet.com

Thanks for the heads up and hope we didn't lose any messages (since it may have been renewed after the day already started).
The important thing is to know he doesn't monitor the boards, so the more details are provided (especially screenshot and link), the more chance enough details will get to him from afar for an action to occur.

Good news!!

No messages have been lost because the certificate of spamgourmet.com will expire at the end of day (Tue, 06 Jun 2023 23:59:59 GMT).
But I think one more change is necessary because the forum is still linked to the old certificate: https://app.trackssl.com/users/sign_up?domain=bbs.spamgourmet.com

I suppose it's only necessary to link new certificate to this subdomain.

Hi;

So thanks for these warning, especially to @akinet who found the problems and to @lwc who pushed this to my attention. I think the admins knew about one certificate and were already working on a different replacement but the BBS one was certainly a new issue and has been fixed.

I've opened an explicit ticket on GitHub about monitoring this.

BTW, please all be happy and friendly and remember that tone on the internet is difficult. People, especially writing in their second or third language, can come across as rude when they don't mean it and can misunderstand as offensive something that is entirely innocent. Without both of you working together we would almost certainly have missed one of these certificates. That was really helpful.

Thanks Michael for your appreciation. I’ve only tried to do my bit to help the spamgourmet community. :D

I will continue to monitor these expiration dates and other such things on my own. It is always good to have a double check.

I don't know if rest of domains (REDACTED) needs a valid certificate. Some of them are expired.
REDACTED

akinet

EDIT: akinet, I redacted the list of domains because I don't want all of them to end up in these banned domain lists used by spammy sites to prevent users from entering a disposable address.

The list of address has been posted to a private discussion forum for devs.

Thanks and apologies for the intrusion!

No problem with edition of previous message.
But be aware that same domains are public on the FAQ page:
