Crazy idea: rewrite of SG in Python
Posted: Mon Dec 13, 2004 1:16 amI don't know much Perl (I want to learn it thoroughly sometime) but I learnt Python recently and have been using it for some little things.
I find Python to be very readable, easy to mantain and fun to program in (on the downside I think it's a little slower than Perl). I have read that Python's niche is somewhat similar to Perl's, and it has what seems a good mail module ( http://www.python.org/doc/2.3.4/lib/module-email.html ).
In addition, Mailman, a powerful list manager, is written in Python. http://www.gnu.org/software/mailman/
I am pretty sure that a complete rewrite to Pyhton would be a bad idea, specially if any of the main developers does not know this language, but just wanted to know what do you guys think about Python, if you knew it.
