Spamgourment message marking

Postby DonJr » Fri Mar 12, 2004 6:29 pm

Instead of just modifing the Subject line like

. Spamgourment message marking (keyword: message 1 of 3)

How about added a new header entry like:

. X-Spamgourment: keyword 1 of 3

The "X-Spamgourment:" field make it nearly impossible to miss.

The "keyword" within the HEADER field entry is easy to phrase for sorting and/or filling proposes.
. IOW it makes it easier to write procmail filters.

You're right, it is easier to write procmail rules for a separate header, but the developers made it this way because most users cannot filter specific custom headers. Hotmail/Yahoo/Outlook/OE are the most commonly used software of users and none of those allow this kind of thing. IIRC this is a previously requested feature but it is not planned to be done (at least not soon).

If some mail clients can not handle checking the additional header fields?

Then the answer is simple:
Offer both with a switch to choose which or both.

:D Although the more proper answer is to update the clients to handlle the additional features of the senders. :D
