Secondary mail server, aka backup mx?

Postby gourmet » Fri Feb 19, 2010 5:20 pm

Hi Admins / Sysops,

I really think that spamgourmet should get backup mx. It's way too common that spamgourmet's mx server isn't reachable.

Ok, with current situation. I'm sure that most of services prodividing "temporary fail safe" would kick spamgourmet out, because spamgourmet's own smtp server isn't working properly.

But it would be very nice to get spamgourmet's own stmp server to work properly and also get backup mx

Best regards,
Gourmet

I agree - we're just at a big cost barrier. The system could run really well with a small cluster - a few (or many, many) MX hosts, a web host or two, and a database server on a private gig-e network with the others. But for some reason, going from leasing one computer to leasing even two which share a private network just increases pricing like crazy.
